WARDSVILLE - The Fulton Hornets have recently had the number of the Blair Oaks Falcons on the baseball diamond, winning four of the last five matchups.

That was not the case Monday night. Blair Oaks used a 12-run third inning to cruise to a 14-0 win in five innings against the Hornets at the Falcon Athletic Complex.

Fulton starting pitcher Seth Gilbert held the Falcons to two runs through two innings. However, seven of the eight batters he faced in the third inning reached base safely, and Blair Oaks built a 7-0 advantage as the Hornets made their first pitching change.

Gage Vandeloecht finished the inning on the mound for the Hornets, stranding what would have been the game-ending run at second base.

Brock McCray pitched a scoreless fourth for Fulton, stranding two more runners on base.

The Hornets put a runner on base in each inning, but they stranded seven runners in five innings. Four of those runners were left in scoring position.

Woodrow Foster came off the bench to hit a double in the fifth. Jake Moore, Evan Gray and John Holtkamp each had a single for the Hornets.

In 2 innings, Gilbert allowed eight runs on eight hits with three walks and one strikeout.

Blair Oaks (8-4), ranked No. 6 in Class 3 in the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association, was led by Reid Dudenhoeffer, who went 3-for-3 with two singles, a triple and five RBI.

Carson Wiebe was the winning pitcher for the Falcons. In four shutout innings, he yielded three hits and one walk while striking out three.

Fulton (4-10) plays Thursday in a North Central Missouri Conference game at Moberly.

Blair Oaks won Monday's JV game 7-1.
