William Woods women fall in soccer

The William Woods women were looking for a good start to their American Midwest Conference schedule Saturday at home but couldn't find the back of the net.

Harris-Stowe broke a scoreless tie in the second half when the Owls scored an own goal in the 77th minute to lose 1-0.

William Woods (4-3-1, 0-1 AMC) had the advantage at 13-9 shots, including a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.

Michyla Handley made three saves while six Owls each had a shot on goal. All six happened in the second half, with two within in the 69th minute and the final one being turned away in the 88th minute.

William Woods will prepare for Saturday's home conference match at 3 p.m. with No. 12 Columbia College.
