Westminster women defeat Principia with second-half goal

The Westminster women now have their first soccer win under their belts after Saturday's 1-0 victory at Principia.

A goal by Jenna Frisella in the second half lifted the Blue Jays (1-4, 1-2 SLIAC) and gave head coach Courtney Howe her first career win.

Westminster dominated Principia all game long in offensive attack as the Blue Jays outshot the Panthers 20-3, with and 8-1 shots on goal advantage. Frisella and Lauren Halamicek were among the Blue Jays to come close in the first half, but the score would remain scoreless at the halftime.

Frisella would get Westminster on the scoreboard in the 51st minute off a rebound from another close call from Savannah Feltrop. Goalkeeper Megan Davidson would have a less hectic night, having to stop only one shot instead of the 14 saves she had in the previous game against Fontbonne.

Westminster will have a chance to make it two victories in a row in its 5 p.m. game today at Webster.
