Westminster shut out back-to-back games, loses 3-0 at Greenville

For the second straight game Wednesday, Westminster played against a team high in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings.

The Blue Jays were shut out 3-0 at Greenville after losing 4-0 to Fontbonne at home Saturday. Both opponents sit 1-2 in the SLIAC standings as the Panthers scored all three of their goals in the second half.

Westminster (5-8, 5-6 SLIAC) was outshot 19-7 on Wednesday and had three shots on goal compared with Greenville's eight. The Blue Jays had two of those in the second half after Greenville (9-5, 9-2 SLIAC) scored its first two goals in the 53rd and 59th minutes. The Panthers added one more in the 89th minute.

Lauren Halamicek had two of those shots on goal while Payton Heevner had the other. Megan Davidson made five saves out of the eight Greenville shots.

Westminster plays another road game at 2 p.m. today against Spalding.
