William Woods wraps up ITA Cup

Four Owls concluded their three days at the ITA Cup in Georgia on Saturday.

Ana Zavala, Hanna Lindeboom, Nathan Cooke and Vitek Subert all lost on Day 1and moved to the consolation bracket on Day 2. They all pressed on until their final matches on day three.

Zavala qualified for the women's singles and doubles competition, with Lindeboom as her partner. In singles, No. 6 see Zavala lost her first-round match to No. 5 seed Eva Siska, of Georgia Gwinnett, 6-4, 6-1 on Thursday. She won her only match of the tournament on Friday, when she defeated Saint Mary's Renee Acena 6-4, 7-6. Her singles play ended on a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Montreat's Valerie Quiceno.

On the doubles side, No. 13 Zavala and Lindeboom lost 6-1, 6-3 on Thursday to Ave Maria's Lara Teodoro de Oliveira and Vitoria Barandas. On Friday, the pair defeated Indiana Wesleyan's Lena Golz and Maddie Bemisderfer 6-1, 6-1 but finished the doubles competition on Saturday with a walkover against Texas Wesleyan's Aurora Novati and Thamara Pinto.

No. 13 Cooke and Subert lost their first-round match Thursday to No. 14 Juan Ramirez and Jacobi Bain, of Xavier Louisiana, 6-4, 6-4. The duo then lost Friday to the Southeastern pair of Federico Barbon and Roy Stepanov 6-2, 6-2. Their final match Saturday against Tennessee Wesleyan's Jesus Fernandez and Patricio Gallegos ended in a walkover.
