Owls can't catch up to Williams Baptist

The American Midwest Conference hasn't been kind to the William Woods men so far this season.

It was at its rudest Saturday at Williams Baptist, when the Eagles jumped out to a five-goal halftime lead with three coming off the foot of one player, to hand the Owls a 5-1 loss and their third American Midwest Conference loss in as many tries.

Jacobo Obradors needed only 24 minutes to secure his hat trick as he gave Williams Baptist (6-2-2, 1-0-1 AMC) a lead just 42 seconds into the game. He then scored in the third and 24th minutes while the third goal was scored in the eight minute.

Down four goals and having already seen nine shots, goalkeeper Ben Faherty allowed the fifth goal in the 31st minute to end a nightmarish first half for William Woods (2-8, 0-3 AMC).

Iker Gonzalez stopped five more Eagles shots in the second half while Breck McGrail scored the Owls' only goal on a penalty kick.

Williams Baptist outnumbered William Woods at 19-5 shots and 12-2 shots on goal.

Guillermo Fernandez had the only other shot on goal for the Owls.

William Woods is back on the road at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lyon College.
