Westminster personal records set under Yunk's first outing as coach at Gans Creek Classic

New Westminster cross country coach Tyler Yunk had the chance to immediately start his coaching duties Friday at the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by the University of Missouri.

Four Blue Jays set personal records on a day Westminster didn't have enough athletes to compete for the team honors. Three men - Michael Giles, Lane Martin and Jacob Marshall - all set personal-best marks on the 8K course, while Tristan Folkner did the same on the women's 6K course.

Giles (29:51.10) had the best Westminster finish of the day in 68th place. Martin (30:52.90) and Marshall (34:08.70) came in 76th and 85th, respectively, for the men, while Folkner (32:01.30) finished 80th. Moenasia Sidique was in the middle at the 3K mark in the women's race but had to withdraw because of an injury.

Westminster will run Friday at Principia College in the Cowbell Classic.
