Three Owls named to softball all-region team

Three members of the William Woods softball team were selected to the 2021 All-Region II team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Emma Taylor was named to the first team while Mallory Feldewerth and Celeste Sermeno were added to the second team.

Taylor, a junior third basemen, started in 42 of 43 games finishing the season with a team-leading .383 batting average and .624 slugging percentage. She already had been named to the American Midwest Conference first team.

She had 54 hits, 33 runs scored, 29 RBI, 10 doubles, six triples and four home runs. Her six triples were good enough to rank 16th in the NAIA and first in the AMC. Taylor also ranks 24th in the NAIA in triples per game.

The team's sophomore shortstop, Feldeworth, an AMC first team selection, started in 32 of 36 games and shared the team lead in batting average with Taylor at .383, having 41 hits, five triples and two home runs. She also had 26 RBI, 18 runs scored, a .486 slugging percentage and a .423 on base percentage.

The junior Sermano was the team's left fielder and a member of the AMC second team. She started in 29 of 31 games, ranking third on the team with a .346 batting average. Sermano also finished the season with 33 hits, 19 runs scored, 16 RBI, 10 doubles and a .474 slugging percentage.
