Men's Track and Field: William Woods runner-up at AMC Championships

ST. LOUIS - Three William Woods Owls earned individual conference titles at the American Midwest Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Landon Dunlap won two events, running the 800-meter run in 1:58.33 and the 1,500-meter run in 4:03.74 in the two-day event that concluded Saturday at Missouri Baptist.

Those victories accounted for 20 of William Woods' 190 points, which was good for a runner-up finish in the team standings.

Columbia College won the conference title with 264 points.

Cole Koch completed the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:24.73 for a win. He added a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 16:09.32 to earn third-team all-conference honors.

Fellow Owl Ben Farrell was second in the steeplechase with a time of 10:42.41.

Claiming the conference championship in the hammer throw was Quentin Webert with a toss of 178 feet, 11 inches. He was the runner-up finisher in the shot put with a mark of 44-11.

Also earning all-conference honors in the throwing events for William Woods were Daulton Melton in the discus with a throw of 132-6 to take second and Ryan Medley with a throw of 137-2 in the javelin to finish third.

Easton Ambler and Brian Winkelmann placed second (17.14 seconds) and third (19.58 seconds), respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Aliczander Nikonowicz finished third in 1:02.42.

Hunter Carpenter placed third in the 800-meter run (2:01.87) and third in the 1,500-meter run (4:07.94).

The 4x400-meter relay team of Donovan McCarthy, Dunlap, Carpenter and Jared Eliuk placed second in 3:34.45.

Dunlap, Koch, Carpenter and Ben Farrell clocked in at 8:30.63 for a runner-up finish in the 4x800.

William Woods will compete May 26-28 in the NAIA National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.
