College Softball: Iowa Wesleyan 6, Westminster 0

The Westminster Blue Jays ended their season Wednesday with a 6-0 loss to the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers in the play-in round of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at Blue Jay Field.

Westminster, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, ends the season with a 15-17 record.

Iowa Wesleyan scored two runs in the third inning, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Morgan Christner hit a pair of solo home runs for the Tigers (6-12) and Kara Krieger added a two-run shot. Christner also pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out 10.

Laney Rosson led Westminster's offense with a single and a double, while Emily Esquivel had a pair of singles. Katie Price also had a single for the Blue Jays.

Erin Carr was the losing pitcher. In 5 innings, she allowed five runs on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Price threw the final 1 innings, striking out one while giving up one run on two hits.

The SLIAC Tournament will conclude today at Blue Jay Field with four games. In addition to No. 5 Iowa Wesleyan, other teams still remaining are No. 1 Fontbonne, No. 2 Webster and No. 3 Spalding.
