College volleyball: William Woods volleyball team drops opener

The William Woods University Lady Owls volleyball team bowed in its season opener after MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University rallied for a 28-26, 20-25, 21-25, 25-20 and 15-8 win at Anderson Arena on Saturday.

Junior middle hitter Hannah Kuehl directed William Woods with 12 kills, while junior outside hitter Baylie Petry posted a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs. Junior setter Tess Schannuth also provided a double-double with 44 assists and 13 digs.

Junior defensive specialist Tori Roseman paced the Lady Owls with a match-high 30 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Ally Konarzewski added 11 digs and junior defensive specialist Emily Greif had 10.

MidAmerica Nazarene raised its season record to 13-8 with the victory.

William Woods travels to Columbia on Tuesday for matches against William Penn (Iowa) University (6 p.m.) and host Columbia College (8 p.m.).
