William Wood baseball hits nine homers in doubleheader split

ST. LOUIS - William Woods and Harris-Stowe combined for 57 runs Tuesday in a American Midwest Conference doubleheader.

The Hornets claimed the first game 16-10 before the Owls won in Game 2 22-9 in seven innings.

The Owls trailed 3-0 in the second game before plating 10 runs in the third.

William Woods homered five times in the game, getting one each from Connor Poulson, Isaiah Gibbs, Jake Fleming, Bryson Matthews and Tyklen Salmons (South Callaway High School).

Gibbs added three doubles for a four-hit, six RBI performance.

Poulson and Fleming each had two hits and three RBI.

Kaleb Haley earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs and six hits with two walks in 2 innings.

Logan Bexten struck out two in an inning of relief and Max Storch added two strikeouts in 1 innings.

In Game 1, Marcus Gonzalez, Kamron Morriss, Poulson and Gibbs each hit a home run.

Gibbs also had a double and two RBI.

William Woods (18-15, 11-11) will host Williams Baptist at 3 p.m. Thursday for a doubleheader at Owls Field.
