College Baseball: William Woods falls to Lyon in doubleheader

BATESVILLE, Ark. - Playing for the first time in a week and a half, the William Woods Owls ended Saturday's doubleheader against the Lyon Fighting Scots with a pair of losses.

Lyon took Game 1 4-1 with a complete-game from Lex Meinderts, who struck out five, walked three and allowed a runs on four hits in seven innings.

The top of Lyon's batting order got on base regularly in Game 2 in an 8-3 victory.

Logan Bexten pitched Game 1 for the Owls, allowing four runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Bryson Matthews had two of William Woods' four hits.

Isaiah Gibbs, Tyklen Salmons and Alex Owens each had two hits for the Owls in Game 2. Owens also tallied an RBI.

Lyon improves to 15-17 overall, 10-8 in the AMC with the wins.

William Woods (12-13, 5-9) and Lyon will play two more games at 1 p.m. today.
