Women's golf: Zrodowska places first at Quincy Invitational

QUINCY, Ill. - William Woods sophomore Maria Zrodowska claimed her third straight individual title of the season Tuesday in the Quincy Invitational at Quincy Country Club.

Zrodowska, who held a four-shot lead after Monday's first round, finished with a 7-over 79 in Tuesday's second round to finish with an 8-over 158.

Zrodowska won by six strokes ahead of Southern Indiana's Brooke Moser. Zrodowska won the only golfer in the field of 44 players to break 80 in the second round.

Southern Indiana won the team title with a two-day score of 652. William Woods was second with a 671, followed by Truman State in third with a 701.

Krystal Burgtorf tied for fourth place with a 166 for the Owls, shooting an 87 in her second round. Paige Hawkins also cracked the top 10, carding an 88 to finish ninth overall with a 173.

Jennah Schell rounded out William Woods' team score with a 180, shooting an 88 in Tuesday's round. Maddison Fenner was 40th with a 214, posting a 180 on Day 2.

Up next for William Woods is the American Midwest Conference Championships, which begin May 10 at Redfield Golf Club in Eugene.
