William Woods men's golf team atop leaderboard at Quincy Invite

QUINCY, Ill. - The William Woods University men's golf team leads after the first day of the Quincy Invitational.

The Owls shot a 302 on Monday and lead Central Methodist and Missouri Valley by five strokes.

Logan Smith of William Woods is tied for second among individuals in the tournament after opening with a 72. Jakub Dymecki shot a 73 and is tied for fourth, while Maxime Faure is tied for ninth with a 77. Pheemawat Winomrat is in a five-way tie for 17th with an 80, and Arron Patel sits with an 81. Grant Mach of the Owls, playing as an individual, shot an 85.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude today.

Also on Monday, Smith was selected as the American Midwest Conference golfer of the week after winning the Central Methodist Invitational. It's the second time Smith has won the award this season.
