College baseball: Undefeated Washington takes two from Westminster

ST. LOUIS - Washington University remained undefeated Friday with a doubleheader sweep of the Westminster Blue Jays, winning 11-3 and 10-4.

The Bears, ranked No. 2 in the d3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 poll, scored nine of their runs in Game 1 during the first five innings.

Steven Diaz hit two singles and a triple while driving in a run from the leadoff spot for the Blue Jays.

Hunter Mulholland went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run.

Dawson Koch pitched four innings, allowing seven earned runs and eight hits with four strikeouts and four walks in four innings to take the loss on the mound.

Drew Boessen kept the Bears in check for the most part in five innings of work in Game 2, allowing three earned runs and eight hits with three strikeouts and zero walks.

Austin Mayton finished with a single, a double and an RBI for Westminster (9-10).

Washington (16-0) had five players record at least two hits in the game.

Westminster will resume play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday, April 17, when it hosts Fontbonne at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader at Saucier Field.
