Six Owls make all-AMC team in women's soccer

Six William Woods Owls were named all-conference and coach Lauren Robb won the the American Midwest Conference coach of the year award, the conference announced Thursday.

Making the first team for the Owls were defender Brianna Morrow, midfielders McKenzie Gourley and Lauren Helmert, and forward Cindy Gonzalez.

Abby Prather-Turner and Abby Wilson both made the all-conference list as an honorable mention.

Gonzalez led William Woods with 12 goals and added five assists in 12 games, including the AMC Tournament. She was named the AMC freshman of the year.

Gourley finished with eight goals and three assists, and Helmert scored seven goals and had an assist.

Sydney Balducci was named the conference newcomer of the year after finishing with 10 goals and eight assists.

William Woods finished second to Columbia College in the conference standings with an 8-1 record.

The season ended Monday in a 3-2 loss to Missouri Baptist in the AMC Tournament semifinals.
