Men's soccer: William Woods beats Harris-Stowe 2-0 in AMC Tournament

ST. LOUIS - The William Woods Owls opened the American Midwest Conference Tournament on Thursday with a 2-0 win against the Harris-Stowe Hornets at St. Mary's High School.

The No. 8 seed Owls took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when Sam Allen scored on an assist by Jon Buerge.

Not long after, Lucio Prado Born added a goal in the 34th minute. Buerge once again got the assist.

Ben Faherty made two saves and Iker Gonzalez made one save in goal for William Woods.

The No. 9 seed Hornets end their season at 1-6-1.

William Woods (5-4-1) will play top-seeded Columbia College on Saturday in the quarterfinals. Game time is 1 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
