Men's Tennis: William Woods 7, Missouri Baptist 0

The William Woods Owls pushed their winning streak to nine matches Monday with a 7-0 dual win against the Missouri Baptist Spartans at Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.

In doubles action, Patrick Shelepov and Ben Grumley won 6-4 at No. 1 for the Owls, while Robert Schorr and Aaron Westerlund won 6-0 at No. 2. Vitek Subert and Jack Campbell won by forfeit.

Winning in singles for William Woods were Shelepov at No. 1 (6-0, 0-6, 6-4), Westerlund at No. 2 (6-4, 6-2), Subert at No. 3 (6-2, 6-2) and Schorr at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0). Mladen Novovic and Zach Frisbie each won by forfeit.

William Woods won 6-1 in Saturday's dual against Grand View (Iowa) at Quincy (Ill.) University.

The Owls won five of the six singles matches, getting wins from Shelepov (6-1, 6-3), Westerlund (6-0, 6-0), Novovic (6-0, 6-0), Frisbie (6-4, 6-2) and Campbell (6-2, 6-2). Grumley dropped his first set 6-7 (1-7 tiebreaker), won the second set 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker) and lost the deciding third set 6-7 (4-7 tiebreaker).

In doubles, Nathan Cooke and Westerlund won 6-0, while Campbell and Subert won 6-1. Shelepov and Grumley lost 1-6.

William Woods (11-2), ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, will play Wednesday at No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan.
