College softball: Westminster 21-13, Stephens 1-1

COLUMBIA - Sophomore left fielder Bailee Zemianek set a school record by driving in seven runs in the first game as the Lady Blue Jays breezed to a decisive sweep of the Lady Stars in Thursday's doubleheader.

Westminster College picked up its first two wins of the season to even its record at 2-2. Both games were called on the run rule after five innings.

Zemianek went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning, a three-run double in the second and a two-run double in the third as the Lady Blue Jays accumulated 16 hits.

Sophomore shortstop Laney Rosson finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and scored three runs for Westminster. Senior catcher Emily Lucitt was 3-for-3 with three RBI and four runs scored.

Senior third baseman Sarah Cradick went 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored three times, while senior second baseman Brooke Laidley finished 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in the fourth.

Senior starter Katie Price gave up an unearned run while scattering five hits to earn the complete-game victory for the Lady Blue Jays. Price (1-1) struck out four and walked one.

Price - moving to first base - was 3-for-4 in the nightcap with four RBI and three runs scored as Westminster banged out 13 hits. Price ripped a two-run homer in the first, added a two-run single in the second and also doubled.

Zemianek went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and scored two runs. Senior center fielder Mackenzie Myers finished 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, while Rosson was 2-for-2 and scored three runs.

Senior starter Madison Ingram struck out nine in going the distance to log the win for the Lady Blue Jays. Ingram (1-1) allowed an earned run on five hits and one walk.

Westminster travels to Florida next weekend to play in The Spring Games. The Lady Blue Jays open with games Saturday against Geneseo and Bethany (W.Va.), then face Eastern Connecticut State and the University of Massachusetts-Boston on Sunday.
