College women's basketball: Greenlee, No. 25 Lady Owls end regular season with rout

William Woods hosts AMC quarterfinal game March 5

William Woods University senior guard Peyton Greenlee connected on six 3-pointers in producing 18 points to spur the Lady Owls to a 75-54 AMC victory over Stephens College in Thursday night's regular-season finale at Anderson Arena.

William Woods - which entered the NAIA national rankings for the first time this season at No. 25 on Wednesday - improved to 24-6 overall and 18-6 in the American Midwest Conference. The Lady Owls - who swept the season series with Stephens - have won 16 of their last 18.

William Woods bolted to a commanding 26-7 lead after one quarter Thursday night and was in front 46-24 at halftime. The Lady Owls carried a 66-39 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Greenlee - who was 6-of-8 from behind the arc - paced four players in double figures for William Woods, which shot 49 percent (30-of-61) overall. Senior guard Jazlyn Drake was next with 11 points, while sophomore guard Rylie Cox and sophomore forward Kasey Hazell both provided 10.

Senior guard Kaycee Gerald only scored six points, but handed out 10 assists to become the Lady Owls' career leader with 487.

Gerald, Cox and junior guard Tori Nesslage collected six rebounds apiece to spark William Woods to a 43-30 edge on the boards.

Cedreanna Lee countered with 18 points to pace Stephens (6-23, 1-22), which shot just 34 percent (20-of-59) from the field. Madelyne Denslow chipped in with 14 points.

The Lady Owls have secured the fourth seed for the AMC Championships and will host a quarterfinal matchup at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5.
