College men's basketball: Spalding (Ky.) 77, Westminster 68

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Blue Jays were outscored by the Golden Eagles 43-34 in the first half and suffered their fourth straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss Wednesday night.

Westminster College - which breezed past Spalding University 84-56 on Jan. 18 in Fulton - tumbled to 8-15 on the season and 7-10 in the SLIAC. The Golden Eagles are now 4-20 overall and 4-13 in conference play.

Sophomore guard Landon Harrison was 7-of-11 from the field - including 2-of-3 from 3-point range - in supplying 18 points to pace three players in double figures for the Blue Jays.

Sophomore forward Jaxon Althaus added 14 points for Westminster, which shot just 39 percent (28-of-71) as a team. Sophomore guard Ethan Thompson contributed 12 points.

Harrison completed a double-double by grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds as the Blue Jays were edged on the boards 41-35.

Brian Tribble also had 18 points to guide five players in double figures for Spalding, which shot 46 percent (24-of-52) from the field. Marcus Montgomery followed with 14 points, Xavier Gari finished with 13, Troy Amanor contributed 12 and Mitchell Prince had 11.

Westminster ends its season with a SLIAC home game against MacMurray (Ill.) College at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Blue Jays bowed at MacMurray in a 115-104 shootout Jan. 22.
