College men's basketball: Webster 95, Westminster 91

The Blue Jays suffered their second straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss in falling to the Gorloks at home Thursday night.

Westminster College - which was swept in the season series by Webster University - tumbled to 8-13 on the season and 7-8 in the SLIAC. The Gorloks, who led 50-46 at halftime, raised their season record to 14-8 and moved to 13-2 in conference play.

Sophomore forward Jaxon Althaus was 12-of-18 from the field - including 3-of-6 from 3-point range - in delivering a game-high 34 points to guide five players in double figures for the Blue Jays.

Sophomore guard Landon Harrison was next with 18 points for Westminster, which shot 49 percent (34-of-69) as a team. Sophomore guard Ethan Thompson added 14 points and junior guard Emil Spriggs provided 12.

Sophomore guard Makygh Galbreath - a Fulton graduate - came off the bench to contribute 10 points for the Blue Jays.

Harrison also pulled down eight rebounds as Westminster was clipped on the boards 34-31.

The Blue Jays travel to St. Louis for a SLIAC matchup against Fontbonne University at 3 p.m. Saturday. Westminster lost to Fontbonne 95-90 on Jan. 15 in Fulton.
