College men's basketball: Harris-Stowe 82, William Woods 72

ST. LOUIS - The Owls had their three-game American Midwest Conference winning streak halted in bowing to the Hornets on Thursday night.

William Woods University - which was swept in the season series by Harris-Stowe State University - dropped to 12-13 overall and 8-10 in the AMC. The Hornets improved to 16-8 on the season and 11-6 in conference play.

The Owls were down 39-30 at halftime Thursday night and Harris-Stowe capped off the victory by edging William Woods 43-42 in the second half.

Freshman center Darius Yohe - who was 9-of-12 from the field - supplied 19 points to direct the Owls, who shot 44 percent (31-of-70) as a team. Junior forward Makenzie Fessler finished 7-of-14 in tallying 15 points.

Fessler completed a double-double by collecting a game-high 15 rebounds to lift William Woods to a 42-39 advantage on the boards.

The Owls host Missouri Baptist University in an AMC game at 3 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Arena. William Woods was edged by Missouri Baptist 59-56 on Jan. 4 in St. Louis.
