CARLINVILLE, Ill. - The Westminster Blue Jays were outscored by the Blackburn (Ill.) Beavers 46-32 in the second half of Saturday's 74-69 loss in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Westminster - which was on top 37-28 at halftime - fell to 8-12 on the season and 7-7 in the SLIAC. Blackburn, which lost 79-73 on Jan. 8 at Westminster, improved to 10-11 overall and 9-7 in conference play.
Sophomore forward Jaxon Althaus finished with 17 points Saturday to guide four players in double figures for the Blue Jays, who shot 41 percent (26-of-63) as a team.
Junior guard Emil Spriggs tallied 14 points for Westminster, sophomore guard Ethan Thompson added 12 points and sophomore guard Landon Harrison contributed 10 points.
Althaus collected a game-high nine rebounds to spark the Blue Jays to a commanding 47-32 edge on the boards.
Karson Hayes, Christian Wagner and Chanz Aldridge shared game scoring honors with 18 points each to pace Blackburn, which shot 44 percent (27-of-61) from the field.
Westminster hosts Webster University in a SLIAC contest at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Blue Jays lost 78-65 on Jan. 11 at Webster 78-65.
