College women's basketball: William Woods 67, Central Baptist (Ark.) 51

Sophomore guard Rylie Cox tallied a game-high 17 points and the Lady Owls continued their sizzling streak in an AMC win over the Lady Mustangs on Thursday night at Anderson Arena.

The victory was the 11th in a row for William Woods University (19-4, 13-4 American Midwest Conference), which avenged a 68-65 loss at Central Baptist on Dec. 19. The Lady Mustangs slipped to 13-8 overall and 9-7 in the AMC after Thursday night's loss.

The Lady Owls trailed 16-11 after one quarter, but outscored Central Baptist 19-9 in the second quarter to carry a 30-25 edge into halftime. William Woods owned a 51-42 lead entering the fourth quarter and pulled away by outscoring the Lady Mustangs 16-9 over the final 10 minutes.

Cox connected on 7-of-11 shots to direct four players in double figures for the Lady Owls, who shot 45 percent (28-of-62) as a team. Senior guard Ashleigh Frampton supplied 15 points, senior guard Kaycee Gerald added 12 and senior guard Peyton Greenlee contributed 11.

Frampton and sophomore forward Kasey Hazell shared game honors by pulling down 10 rebounds apiece in leading William Woods to a decisive 44-28 advantage on the boards.

Sierra Carrier countered with 15 points to pace three players in double figures for Central Baptist, which shot just 36 percent (21-of-59) from the field. Macey Decker provided 14 points and Grace Coates finished with 10.

The Lady Owls close out a four-game homestand with an AMC contest against No. 11 Lyon (Ark.) College at 1 p.m. Saturday. William Woods lost at Lyon 53-34 on Dec. 21.
