College women's soccer: Schulte spurs Lady Blue Jays soccer team to first win of season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Westminster College junior forward Natalie Schulte logged two goals to help guide the Lady Blue Jays soccer team to its first win of the season, a 3-1 SLIAC victory over Spalding University on Wednesday night.

Freshman defender Emily Siegel gave Westminster (1-8-1, 1-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) an early lead with a goal in the 5th minute. Spalding promptly tied the contest with a goal in the 7th minute, but Schulte put the Lady Blue Jays in front to stay with goals in the 57th and 82nd minutes.

Westminster edged the Lady Golden Eagles 12-11 in overall shots, with both teams recording seven shots on goal. Each team finished with four corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Sarah Cradick tallied six saves for the Lady Blue Jays, tying Ellen Woolsey (2013-16) for most career wins with 23.

Westminster hosts Eureka (Ill.) College in a SLIAC matchup at 7 p.m. Saturday.
