College women's soccer: Lady Owls soccer team faces Hastings in opener

The William Woods University Lady Owls soccer team learned Monday that it will face Hastings (Neb.) College on Friday in the opening round of the NAIA national championship in Indianapolis.

The start time for the game has not been announced.

William Woods (12-7) earned the American Midwest Conference's second automatic qualifying bid after finishing in second place during the regular season. The Lady Owls lost to Missouri Baptist University 3-0 in the semifinals of the AMC postseason tournament Nov. 11 in Fulton.

Hastings (16-4) advanced to the NAIA opening round despite losing to Midland University 1-0 in the championship of the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament Nov. 15.

The William Woods-Hastings winner will move on to play No. 12 Marian (Ind.) on Saturday.
