College women's basketball: William Woods 71, Greenville (Ill.) 58

The Lady Owls opened up a 32-19 lead at halftime to stay unbeaten at 5-0 with a victory over the Lady Panthers on Saturday at Anderson Arena.

William Woods University increased its advantage to 55-30 by outscoring Greenville University 23-11 in the third quarter. The Lady Panthers (1-3) narrowed the gap by outscoring the Lady Owls 28-16 in the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Kaycee Gerald - who was 6-of-10 from the field - supplied game-highs with 17 points and six assists to pace William Woods, which shot 44 percent (27-of-61) as a team.

Gerald completed a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds to carry the Lady Owls to a 37-29 edge on the boards. Senior guard Peyton Greenlee added 12 points.

Emily Reinneck tallied 12 points to lead three players in double figures for Greenville, which shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the field. Hannah Krukewitt was next with 11 points and Madelyn Stephen contributed 10.

William Woods opens American Midwest Conference play at home against Hannibal-LaGrange University at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
