College women's basketball: Lady Owls rally in OT, stay perfect

The William Woods University Lady Owls basketball team outscored Culver-Stockton College 12-1 in overtime to stay unbeaten at 4-0 with an 82-71 victory Wednesday night at Anderson Arena.

William Woods had to rally to force the extra period, outscoring Culver-Stockton 12-0 over the final 4 minutes, 38 seconds of regulation. Senior guard Peyton Greenlee buried a 3-pointer with :35 left to tie the game at 70-all.

The Lady Owls then controlled overtime, scoring the first seven points to go in front to stay. Another 3 from Greenlee gave William Woods a 77-70 advantage with 3:07 to play.

Greenlee connected on 9-of-17 shots - including 6-of-11 from behind the arc - to guide the Lady Owls with a game-high 26 points. Senior guard Kaycee Gerald supplied 17 points and seven steals as William Woods shot 42 percent (31-of-74) from the field.

Senior guard Jazlyn Drake added 15 points and senior guard Ashleigh Frampton contributed 12.

Greenlee, Gerald and Frampton pulled down 10 rebounds apiece as the Lady Owls were edged on the boards 49-44.

Ryan Dooley - who hit 4-of-8 3-pointers - tallied 22 points to pace four players in double figures for Culver-Stockton (2-2), which shot just 35 percent (25-of-72) as a team and committed 21 turnovers.

Jada Summers followed with 15 points for the Lady Wildcats, Laken Hugenberg chipped in with 11 and Courteney Sailor had 10.

William Woods continues its homestand with a matchup against Greenville (Ill.) University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
