College men's basketball: William Woods 82, Culver-Stockton 52

The Owls turned a tight contest at halftime into a rampage by outscoring the Wildcats 46-18 in the second half to stop a two-game losing streak Wednesday night at Anderson Arena.

William Woods University - which erupted after carrying a narrow 36-34 lead into the break - improved its season record to 2-3. Culver-Stockton College slipped to 1-3.

Sophomore forward Andrew Nett was 6-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-11 from 3-point range, in coming off the bench to spark the Owls with a game-high 17 points. Senior guard Treshawn Gause made 8-of-10 shots to provide 16 points in a reserve role.

Freshman guard Tyriel Nelson also had 12 points for William Woods, which shot 46 percent (31-of-67) as a team and committed only six turnovers.

Freshman center Darius Yohe collected a game-high 13 rebounds to power the Owls to a 45-37 advantage on the boards.

Ray Adams scored 12 points and Mason Vires was next with 10 for Culver-Stockton, which shot just 35 percent (21-of-60) from the field.

The Owls played an exhibition against NCAA Division II Lindenwood University on Thursday night in St. Charles. William Woods goes back on the road for another exhibition at Division II University of Missouri-St. Louis at 3 p.m. Saturday.
