Women's basketball: William Woods 52, Graceland (Iowa) 40

Senior guard Kaycee Gerald responded with a game-high 14 points as the William Woods Lady Owls stayed unbeaten by turning back the Graceland (Iowa) Lady Yellowjackets for a 52-40 win in Saturday's home opener at Anderson Arena.

William Woods (3-0) owned a 30-22 halftime advantage and clinched the win by outscoring Graceland 22-18 in the second half.

Senior guard Peyton Greenlee and sophomore forward Kasey Hazell added 11 points each for the Lady Owls, who shot just 32 percent (18-of-56) from the field and weathered 20 turnovers.

Greenlee and Hazell also shared game honors with 12 rebounds apiece to guide William Woods to a 48-44 edge on the boards.

Calesse Bair had 10 points for the Lady Yellowjackets (1-3), who shot a woeful 25 percent (17-of-69) as a team and also committed 20 turnovers.

William Woods hosts Culver-Stockton at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
