William Woods senior forward Tayler LePage accounted for the only goal as the Lady Owls soccer team stretched its winning streak to nine games with a 1-0 AMC victory against Lyon (Ark.) on Saturday at Firley Field.
William Woods finished the regular season at 11-7 overall and in second place in the American Midwest Conference at 10-2. The Lady Owls are the second seed for the AMC postseason tournament and host No. 7 Harris-Stowe State University in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Friday.
William Woods shut out Harris-Stowe 2-0 on Oct. 26 in Fulton.
LePage struck quickly Saturday, delivering her goal just 16 seconds into the game. The Lady Owls outshot Lyon (7-10, 4-8 AMC) by a commanding 26-4 margin, including 18-2 in shots on goal.
William Woods took all seven corner kicks in the contest.
Freshman goalkeeper Michyla Handley posted two saves to record the shutout for the Lady Owls.
