MOBILE, Ala. — The sixth-ranked Lady Owls were eliminated at the 39th-annual NAIA national championships after being shut out by No. 3 Xavier University of Louisiana 5-0 in quarterfinal play Thursday.

William Woods University ended its season with a 16-7 record.

No. 1 doubles: Charlene Goreau/Angela Charles-Alfre (XULA) defeated junior Zlata Shuraeva/sophomore Ana Zavala (WWU), 8-1; No. 2: Mariia Borodii/Farah Baklouti (XULA) def. sophomore Julia Perez Wienese/senior Karyna Sagalai (WWU), 8-1; No. 3: Angelica De Vincenzi/Lacee Ancar (XULA) def. senior Felicia Cesar/senior Chelsea Steward (WWU), 9-8 (7-5).

No. 1 singles: Goreau (XULA) def. Shuraeva (WWU), 6-0, 6-4; No. 2: Borodii (XULA) def. Wienese (WWU), 6-1, 6-1; No. 3: Charles-Alfre (XULA) vs. Cesar (WWU), 6-0, 3-6, 1-1, unfinished; No. 4: Baklouti (XULA) vs. Zavala (WWU), 7-5, 3-2, unfinished; No. 5: Yi Chen Pao (XULA) vs. Steward (WWU), 7-5, 2-5, unfinished; No. 6: De Vincenzi (XULA) vs. Sagalai (WWU), 6-2, 1-5, unfinished.
