Military veterans may receive free seasonal flu vaccinations during regularly scheduled appointments at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital primary care, specialty surgery, behavioral health and other specialty clinics, according to a news release.

Veterans may receive their free vaccination at the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, 3430 W. Edgewood Drive in Jefferson City. They may also receive the vaccinations at in-network Community Care Network pharmacies or urgent care locations.

To find out if your pharmacy or urgent care is a VA-approved, in-network provider, contact the Truman VA at 573-814-6000 or call 1-844-698-2311.

Veterans must show their VA health identification card at the time of their vaccination.

Truman VA is also offering a drive-thru clinic 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) at the south section of the first floor of Truman VA's parking garage, 800 Hospital Drive in Columbia. Veterans should access the drive-thru clinic from the services road off Monk Drive, between the garage and Parking Lot D.

The COVID-19 pandemic adds additional health risk in addition to influenza, according to the Truman VA news release.

"By receiving a flu vaccination," the release notes, "you can help protect our communities from a vaccine-preventable disease and reduce the burden of respiratory illness during a global pandemic."
