The Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society will be closed next week, Monday through Saturday, while boxes of materials are moved to the organization's new research center, at 106 E. Fourth St.
The current museum at 513 Court St. in downtown Fulton will be expanded, Director Barb Huddleston said.
"We don't need any help," she said Wednesday. "On Monday and Tuesday, people will be packing, and the movers will come Wednesday."
She said museum officials hope patrons will be patient while staff make these changes.
The research center was a former building for Boyd and Boyd, purchased from The Callaway Bank. The KCHS board has been looking for additional archival storage and space for volunteer work and meetings.
The downtown location will remain the museum and gift shop, and the new space will be geared toward historic and family research.
Extra space will aid in the museum's efforts to organize the upcoming, year-long Callaway 200th anniversary celebrations.
