Icy conditions blamed in fatal northern Missouri accident

MACON, Mo. (AP) - Icy road conditions are blamed in an accident that killed a man in northern Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said 62-year-old John Linder of Columbia was a passenger in a box truck that slid off the roadway on U.S. 63 in Macon County on Tuesday. The area was hit by a wintry mix that was part of a system that dumped several inches of snow on parts of Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin and other states.

The truck overturned. The driver, 41-year-old Nicholas Evans of Columbia, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
