Parade brings Christmas cheer to Fulton

Saturday's cold weather didn't dampen the holiday spirits as the annual Fulton Christmas Parade rolled through town.

This year's parade was organized by Callaway Dreams, who continue the Fulton tradition. The parade was previously organized by Fulton Jaycees.

The theme for this year's parade was "A Farmhouse Christmas," as voted on by followers of the Callaway Dreams Facebook page.

Tuesday

Candidate filing now open for upcoming election

Candidate filing opens today for the upcoming General Municipal Election in April.

The open positions for the City of Fulton includes the Mayor, councilmembers for all wards and city attorney.

Filing was scheduled to open today at 8 a.m. and will continue until Dec. 27 at 5 p.m. Candidate packets can be picked up at the City Clerk's Office. Fully completed packets are required by law to be directly turned in to the clerk's office as well.

Callaway library holiday events planned, winter reading program set for January

Callaway County Public Library has some exciting events happening soon.

One event scheduled is the snack and chat book discussion on Dec. 13. from noon to 1 p.m. at GoPo Gourmet Popcorn, 525 Court St. in Fulton.

SERVE food shortages ongoing, volunteers still needed

SERVE'S food pantry is still in need of food and volunteers.

Diane Henry, of SERVE, Inc., said SERVE really appreciated the community stepping up in doing a food drive in September because they were short on food.

Missing teen possibly in Callaway County

A teen who went missing from Ashland might be located in Callaway County.

According to Missouri Missing, Emilee Dubes, 15, was last seen in Ashland on Dec. 4. Her family belives she might be held captive in the Callaway County and Fulton area. Dubes does not have her cell phone with her.

Missouri Missing describes Dubes as a white female, 5'4", 130 pounds, blonde hair, blue eyes and dimples in her cheeks.

Anyone with information about Dubes is asked to contact the Ashland Police Department (573-657-9062) or the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Missing Persons Unit (573-526-6178). 911 can also be contacted.

Candidate filing now open, two filed day one in Fulton

Filing opened Tuesday for elected city positions, and two candidates have filed in Fulton so far.

Mike West, who currently serves as councilmember for the First Ward, filed for Mayor. He was elected to the Fulton City Council in the Apr. 2021 election, where he received 133 votes (53.85 percent). His opponent was incumbent Valerie Sebacher, who received 113 votes (45.75 percent).

Fulton High School singers spread holiday cheer

Fulton High School's chamber singers spread holiday cheer Dec. 7 by performing Christmas songs during a Fulton Rotary meeting.

The chamber choir started their show with "Carol of the Bells" and ended with the Christmas classic, "Joy to the World."

Chamber singers have already been entertaining others this holiday season.

Fundraiser to support South Callaway Fire District member with cancer

South Callaway Fire Protection District is having a fundraiser in support of one of their members who has cancer.

Lieutenant Cameron Groner, 23, has served the Callaway County community for six years as a member of the South Callaway Fire Protection District.

Groner is need of support from the community and fire department. He was diagnosed with stage three Rhabdomyosacoma earlier this year.

Holiday Bazaar to support Missouri School for the Deaf

The Missouri School for the Deaf Parent's Organization is hosting the first annual Holiday Bazaar to support the Missouri School for the Deaf athletics department.

The Holiday Bazaar will be tomorrow, December 10, at Harrison Gym at the Missouri School for the Deaf (505 East 5th St.). The bazaar will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

A variety of vendors will be in attendance. According to the MSDPO Facebook page, some of the confirmed vendors include Ethereal Bloom, Lavish Bath Creations, Sandy Drummond, Missie Gilleland, David Lowe, Lori Bernicky and Amanda Maggard.
