KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Two Kansas City men were charged with murder after a shooting that left two men dead in March, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Earl L. Dunn III, 20, and Vontez G. Howard, 24, were each with two counts of first-degree murder, robbery, and five other counts.

Kansas City police responding to a call about a shooting and crash on March 1 found Kyle Gerhardt and Kristopher Lunsford-Barrett inside a burning car. Both men had been shot. Detectives said the car caught fire after it crashed into a tree.

Video showed the suspects chasing the vehicle the victims were in until their car crashed, according to court documents.

Prosecutors said investigators also used phones, ballistics, and DNA evidence to connect the shooters to the victims.
