FPS board to hear from director of transportation

The Fulton School District 58 Board of Education will hear from director of transportation Bryan Abbott at tonight’s meeting. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Fulton High School library/media center. They will be holding Special Olympics Awards in the high school’s common area at 6:30 p.m.

The Fulton School District 58 Board of Education will hear from director of transportation Bryan Abbott at tonight's meeting.

Abbott will discuss the draft of the bus training manual required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for new regulations set to begin in February.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Fulton High School library/media center. They will hold Special Olympics Awards in the high school's common area at 6:30 p.m.

Board members are recommended to approve the 2022-2023 district calendar, which meets the calendar requirements of RSMO 171.031.1 and approve the 2023-2024 preliminary district calendar.

Administration also recommends the board:

- Approve the resolution as presented authorizing and directing the issuance and delivery of $10 million principal amount of General Obligation Bonds.

- Review the library/media services report and the Parents as Teachers report.

- Adopt the Missouri School Boards' Association 2021C Policies BBB, DCB and KKB.

- Approve the resolution authorizing participation in the Missouri Capital Asset Advantage Treasury (MOCAAT) Program and execute the Instrument of Adoption.

Under the consent agenda, the administration also recommends the board approve the bid for the Hobart dishwasher from Central Restaurant Products in the amount of $16,661.23.

The board will hear from director of health services Lauren Jacobs, who will give an update on the district's COVID-19 status, and director of special services and federal programs, Cheri Fortney, will speak on differentiated instruction and special services. The board will be asked to review the differentiated instruction and special services reports.

Representatives from the district attendance committee will provide an update about historical attendance patterns, current rates of student attendance, and action steps for continuous improvement.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Chris Hubbachwith will provide updates on district and school data, DESE, ELA curriculum writing and the district equity team. Superintendent Dr. Ty Crain will give the board an update of the 2022 fiscal year budget.
