Summer just became a little sweeter for the YMCA of Callaway County.

The YMCA has announced The Callaway Bank will be the sponsor for its summer day camp June 1-Aug. 13. The sponsorship will help in funding the financial assistance program, along with daily activities and field trips.

The Callaway Bank President and CEO Kim Barnes presented YMCA CEO Sara McDaniel on Thursday with a check for $5,000 for the camp.

"The Callaway Bank is proud to be a community partner of the YMCA, because we share their belief that 'Strength is in Community,'" Barnes said in a news release. "Simply put, we can accomplish more when we combine our energy and resources together.

"We also believe in nurturing the potential of our young people, and by sponsoring Summer Camp we can help Sara and her team provide a great experience for even more kids this summer. It's a win-win!"

The Callaway Bank is a longtime supporter of the YMCA and has partnered with the organization for its annual dinner and auction, and 5k races. Most recently, the bank played an instrumental role in the YMCA's campaign for its building expansion.

The YMCA is also a partner with The Callaway Kids Bank.

"The YMCA strives daily to partner with businesses and other non-profits in our community," McDaniel said in the news release. "We believe as a community we will thrive when these connections are made.

"Due to the pandemic, we haven't been able to host our annual fundraiser, and the sponsorship from The Callaway Bank will allow us to continue our programming uninterrupted to the community."

The YMCA summer day camp provides daily care and organized activities for youth entering kindergarten through fifth grade. For more information, visit www.ymcaofcallaway.org.
