This column serves as a spotlight, highlighting the everyday people who work and live in Callaway County. The Fulton Sun takes a moment with someone who is not usually featured in the news but is just as instrumental in making our community the strong and beautiful place we all know and love.

Elaine Kime grew up in Callaway County, attending North Callaway schools. After living for a while in Nebraska, Kime returned to Fulton with her family. On Friday, Kime visited Beks with her granddaughter, Fox Kime.

Q. What is something you are proud of?

There's a lot of things in my life I'm proud of. I'm proud of my son, I'm proud of my family, I'm proud of what I've managed to do in my life. I'm proud of my country and my community.

Q. Who inspires you most?

A person who is facing obstacles, but never gives up. You know, you can have a 4.0 average, but if you don't have that EQ - that ability to endure and set goals - you're never going to accomplish anything.

Q. What in your life has been the most fulfilling?

My relationship with God. My faith.

Q. If you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

I'd want to do a job that I have never done before - something like quantum physics. I don't know anything about quantum physics, but I would love to learn.

Q. What is a job you wouldn't want to do?

Anything to do with nuclear power.

Q. What is your favorite thing about Callaway County?

The sense of connectedness.
