Director of Administration Bill Johnson, center, talks during the Fulton City Council's May 25 meeting in Fulton City Hall. Fulton Mayor Lowe Cannell is left and Ward 2 councilman Jeff Stone is right. The council meets again at 6:30 tonight.

The Fulton City Council will hear a presentation on the city's proposed 2022 capital budget during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight in council chambers in the upper level of Fulton City Hall (18 E. Fourth St.).

The council will also hear a presentation and consider the acceptance of the city's 2020 audit.

In another piece of new business, council members will consider the acceptance of proposed gas rate increases of 5 cents per unit effective for both the late August billing and the April 2022 billing as authorized by city ordinance.

Under unfinished business, the council will receive an update on the city's Smart Grid system.

Council members will hear two resolutions tonight, the first particularly timely considering the Fourth of July holiday in less than two weeks. It would authorize consumer fireworks to be discharged in all city parks for a specific period of time on Sunday, July 4.

The second resolution would authorize Fulton Mayor Lowe Cannell to sign all necessary documents in connection to a contract with Great River Associates, Inc., for engineering services relating to the city's Second Street Bridge Accelerated Innovation Department project.

The council will hear the first reading of an ordinance that would amend Chapter 94, Article IV, in the city code that pertains to the storage, collection and disposal of solid waste. The bill would repeal certain sections in regard to service charges and replace them with new ones.

Council members will also hear the first reading of an ordinance that would authorize amendments to the city budget for the fiscal year 2020 in regard to financial procedure and the transfer of appropriations.

The council will hear the second reading of an ordinance that would give Cannell approval to declare a tract of land located at 209 West Ninth St. as surplus property and authorize its distribution.

Council members will then hear a third reading of an ordinance that would reclassify - under the city's zoning ordinance - a tract of land located at 1140 Highway 54.

Under the consent agenda, the council will consider reappointments to three boards and two commissions.

Tonight's council meeting is open to the public and will also be livestreamed at fultonmo.org and on the city's YouTube channel.
