The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 70 south outer road in Callaway County later this week to improve drainage, according to a department news release.

MoDOT crews will be replacing a pipe along the outer road between Route YY and County Road 197 east of Williamsburg on Thursday. The road will be closed in the work area from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Message boards will be in place in advance to warn motorists of the closures. Drivers will need to find an alternate route when the road is closed. MoDOT appreciates the patience of travelers while the work takes place.

Work is weather permitting and could be delayed. For more information about this project or other transportation-related matters, call 1-888-ASK- MoDOT (275-6636) or visit www.modot.org/central. Follow the MoDOT Central Missouri District on Facebook or Twitter for project updates.
