Sheriff’s office makes 22 arrests on variety of charges

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22 individuals on an assortment of charges from June 30-July 12, according to a department news release.

At 10:34 p.m. July 12, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 338 near Guthrie and located Brian Barrett, 49, of Jefferson City. Barrett was wanted on a Cole County warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance.

Additionally, Barrett was charged by the Callaway County prosecuting attorney with felony assault in reference to an incident that occurred earlier in the evening along State Road AA near Holts Summit. Barrett was arrested, taken to the Callaway County Jail and remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 11:34 p.m. July 11, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 415 near Hams Prairie and located Jesse Devalle, 40, of Fulton. Devalle was wanted on a Callaway County felony warrant for sex offender violations. Devalle was arrested, taken to the Callaway County Jail and remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 4:27 a.m. July 11, a CCSO deputy was patrolling the area of State Roads H and J near Carrington and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A vehicle passenger, later identified as Brent Andrews, 31, of California, Missouri, attempted to provide the deputy with a false identity.

Methamphetamine was subsequently discovered and Andrews was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, where he was booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance. Additionally, Andrews was wanted on a Cole County warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance. He remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 10:54 p.m. July 9, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Roads 108 and 115 near Calwood and located Darrell Sanders, 32, of Fulton. Sanders was wanted on a Callaway County warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested, taken to the Callaway County Jail and released after posting bond.

At 2:40 p.m. July 9, CCSO staff conducted an investigation concerning a sex offender registration violation. Subsequently, Lucas Pickering, 31, of New Bloomfield, was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender. Pickering was taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed, and released on a court summons.

At 4:43 a.m. July 9, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation near the Highway 54/I-70 interchange in Kingdom City and came into contact with Danelle Hollingsworth, 44, of St. Louis. Hollingsworth was found to be in possession of multiple felony level controlled substances, in addition to marijuana. She was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance and released on a court summons.

At 4:39 p.m. July 8, a CCSO deputy was patrolling South Summit Drive near Holts Summit and stopped Levi Cottingham, 39, of Dixon. Cottingham was wanted on a Randolph County warrant for a drug offense and the deputy subsequently discovered methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, where he was booked and processed for delivery of a controlled substance, in addition to the Randolph County warrant. Cottingham remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 6:35 p.m. July 7, a CCSO deputy was patrolling the area of State Road F near Fulton and stopped Michael Burgeson, 35, of Monroe City, for a traffic violation. The deputy subsequently discovered methamphetamine. Burgeson was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, where he was booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance and remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 9:43 a.m. July 7, CCSO deputies initially responded to a stealing-in-progress at a Millersburg business. While responding, a deputy located the suspect vehicle on State Road RA. Upon the deputy attempting to stop the vehicle, a pursuit ensued traveling County Road 246 and other secondary roadways.

The vehicle subsequently traveled off the roadway and all three occupants fled on foot. Later in the afternoon at 3:51 p.m., Amy Whaley, 43, of Farmington, was located along County Road 230 and arrested by deputies. Whaley was wanted in Jefferson County for felony possession of a controlled substance and burglary. At the time of her arrest, she was found to be in possession of felony controlled substances. Whaley was taken to the Callaway County Jail, where she remains in custody.

Then at 5:58 a.m. July 8, a CCSO deputy located Scott Pace, 38, of Pevely, near County Road 343, where he was arrested. Deputies determined that Pace was wanted in Jefferson County for felony possession of a controlled substance. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a felony controlled substance. Pace was taken to the Callaway County Jail, where he remains in custody.

The third suspect, Brett Shepard, remains outstanding. However, during the subsequent investigation, deputies have identified a local resident who had contact with Shepard — not realizing he was wanted — and transported him away from Millersburg.

At 6:22 a.m. July 7, CCSO deputies simultaneously executed a second drug-related search warrant in the 3000 block of Gold Road in Kingdom City. The search warrant had been obtained as the result of an ongoing CCSO drug investigation.

Methamphetamine, cocaine and other felony level controlled substances were subsequently located. Rachel Allen, 56, of Kingdom City, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance, taken to the Callaway County Jail and booked and processed, and released after posting bond.

At 6:17 p.m. July 7, CCSO deputies executed a drug-related search warrant in the 3000 block of Gold Road in Kingdom City. The search warrant had been obtained as a result of an ongoing CCSO drug investigation. Heroin and other controlled substances were subsequently located.

Scott Grant, 39, of Kingdom City, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance. Grant was taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed, and released pending a court appearance.

At 4:16 a.m. July 6, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the 3000 block of County Road 211 in Kingdom City and came into contact with Judy Quinton, 60, of Littleton, Colorado. Quinton was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance, and remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 2:52 a.m. July 6, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the 3000 block of Gold Road in Kingdom City and came into contact with Roger Pitts, 48, of Kingdom City. Pitts was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance, and remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 12:20 a.m. July 6, a CCSO deputy was patrolling the area of County Roads 256 and 257 near Millersburg and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A vehicle passenger was identified as Sarah Grover, 38, of Columbia, and the deputy subsequently discovered methamphetamine. Grover was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance, and released after posting bond.

At 8:40 p.m. July 5, CCSO deputies investigated a stolen vehicle offense in the area of County Road 240 near Kingdom City. Hours later, the vehicle was located and recovered by deputies. Kimberly Ennis, 32, of Mexico, was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, where she was charged by the Callaway County prosecuting attorney with felony tampering with a motor vehicle. Ennis remains in custody pending a bond post.

At 12:36 a.m. July 4, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 306 near Fulton and located Rodregus Hutt, 32, of Jefferson City. Hutt was wanted on a Cole County warrant for felony assault. He was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed, and released after posting bond.

At 7:26 a.m. July 3, CCSO deputies responded to a burglary in progress on County Road 207 near Fulton. When deputies arrived, the burglar — Eric Smith, 47, of Kingdom City — was located, armed and hiding in an exterior structure on the victim’s property.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, where he was charged by the Callaway County prosecuting attorney with the felony offenses of burglary, unlawful use of a weapon and attempted stealing. Smith is being held without bond pending a court bond review and setting.

At 11:10 p.m. July 2, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation along Old Highway 54 at Lake Mykee and came into contact with Brandon Watts, 25, of Jefferson City. Watts was wanted by the Missouri Department of Corrections for felony probation violations. He was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail and later transferred into the custody of the Cole County Jail (the original charges for probation were in Cole County).

At 3:19 a.m. July 2, CCSO deputies conducted an investigation in the area of State Road OO near Holts Summit and located Holly Smith, 34, of Holts Summit. Smith was wanted on a Callaway County warrant for felony DWI. She was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed, and remains in custody pending a bond post.

On July 1, as the result of an extensive CCSO investigation — in conjunction with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office — Timothy Ward, 43, of Fulton, was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender. Ward was taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed, and later released on a court summons.

At 4:57 p.m. June 30, a CCSO deputy was patrolling County Road 220 near Kingdom City and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A vehicle occupant was identified as Brittany Stith, 35, of Kingdom City, and felony level controlled substances were located. Stith was arrested and taken to the Callaway County Jail, booked and processed for felony possession of a controlled substance, and released on a court summons.
