Two women from Eldon have been charged with stealing a safe from a Cole County business in May.

Nicole Ream, 27, and Charity Albers, 46, are each charged with one count of second-degree burglary and felony stealing.

Cole County Sheriff's Department reports show Albers was an employee of Speedy B's Convenience Store on Pleasant Hill Road. On May 1, she and Ream were joined by another woman, Jerry Schulte, 47, of Jefferson City, who was earlier charged with second-degree burglary in the case.

The three are believed to have gone to the store when it was closed. Ream and Schulte then used Albers' key to get inside while Albers acted as a lookout, according to court documents.

Ream allegedly kicked in the office door and stole a safe containing several thousands of dollars from registers and gaming machines on the premises. The next morning, Albers quit her job at the business.

Authorities said they interviewed all three women, and the three allegedly confessed to how they came up with a plan and how they were going to split the money.
