Central Missouri Community Action-Callaway County and United Credit Union are partnering to offer a free online class on virtual budgeting and credit repair.
"We're really excited about helping people become financially independent," Callaway CMCA community organizer Kellie Pontius said.
The class will have three sessions scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 20, Feb. 17 and March 17.

"It's going to be an interactive class, so we don't want it too large," Pontius said.
CMCA and United Credit Union have worked together to provide educational opportunities in the past. In 2020, the two organizations had planned on putting together a similar class for CMCA Head Start families, but the pandemic interrupted that plan.
At a recent Callaway Resource Network meeting, an attendee asked about financial education resources. Pontius contacted United Credit Union's Fulton branch manager Greg Newsom, and the two planned the class.
Newsom will lead the classes, teaching participants about maintaining a budget and increasing credit scores.
"We wanted to start this class for the new year," Pontius said. "With new resolutions, usually people are ready to make a change. We thought it would be a great time to offer these classes."
The virtual classes are free and aimed at Callaway County residents.
"We've had a huge response already," Pontius said. "We're pretty optimistic they're going to fill up fast."
