As the fall semester begins, William Woods University has hired on four new faculty members.
The university welcomed Timothy Kazmarek as the Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, Roman Sivkov as the Instructor of Finance, Patrick Deffenbaugh as the Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Cindy Wibberg as the Assistant Professor of Special Education.
Dr. Kazmarek graduated from Walden University in Minneapolis, where he received his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice; the American Military University in Charlestown, West Virginia, where he received his Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice, and Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he received an associate's degree, also in Criminal Justice. He comes to William Woods from the Beaver Dam Unified School District in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, where he served as a high school teacher since July 2017. Previous positions included serving as a teacher, chemical dependency counselor and curricula development specialist with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from 2010 to 2015, and serving as a encryption/decryption specialist, instructor and classroom teacher in the U.S. Navy from 2006 to 2009.
Sivkov is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where he received his Master of Science in Economics and Finance and an MBA in Management Information Systems. He joins WWU from Lindenwood University, where he has served as a Finance and Management Information Systems Instructor since 2013. Previous experience includes serving as Adjunct Economics Instructor at St. Charles and Lewis and Clark Community Colleges; Adjunct Economics and Management Information Systems Instructor at Southwest Illinois College; Adjunct Finance and Quantitative Methods Instructor at McKendree University and Economics, Statistics and Management Information Systems Instructor at St. Louis Community College.
Deffenbaugh earned two Bachelor's degrees, one in Communication Arts from Central Washington University and one in Graphics and Packaging from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California; a Master's degree in Communication Studies from Central Washington University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Drawing and Digital Signage from New Jersey City University. He joins William Woods from Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he was serving as a visiting Assistant Professor in the Art Department since 2019. Previous teaching experience included serving as an Adjunct Professor in Graphic Design at New Jersey City University from 2016 to 2019 and Berkeley College in Woodland Park, New Jersey from 2014-2016, and lecturer at Central Washington University in Communication and Art from 2007 to 2010. Outside of higher education, Deffenbaugh also ran his own integrated marketing firm, and served as an art and creative director for a number of firms and on magazine.
Dr. Wibberg holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, plus a Ph.D. in Education from St. Louis University. Her experience includes working as a Educational Diagnostician for the Columbia Public School System; Director of Special Education for the Osage County School District, Cole County and Blair Oaks School Districts, and Special Education teacher in the Jefferson City and Cole County School Districts.
