Second annual Luau Benefit this Thursday

The second-annual End of Summer Luau Benefit for the Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association will be Thursday, Aug. 26 from 6-10 p.m. at The Millbottom in Jefferson City.

Tickets are $20 each or 5 for $90 and includes the luau, dinner and one drink. All proceeds will go towards helping foster, adoptive and kinship children and families in Central Missouri.

“Tickets come with the hula hoop contest where you can get your money back for your ticket,” President and CEO DeAnna Alonso said. “Also a plate from Rebel Tacos and a beer. It does not include the fruity drinks but we will be super happy for people step up and order one because the proceeds go back to the kids we serve.”

There will be food and drink trucks for guests to enjoy such as Rebel Tacos, Twisted Whip and Shrunken Head. Como Axe Attack will also be bringing their mobile axe throwing truck.

Rebel Tacos has adopted the organization and will be donating their tips; along with Twisted Whip who will be donating a portion for their proceeds.

“The money goes back to trying to find homes for kids who don’t have one,” Alonso said. And to be able to continue to support youths who are aging out of foster care making, and sure they’re successful and supported.”

There will be live music from Uke 66, a ukulele acoustic duo, who will be playing on the patio for competitions, and the Cherry Pistols who will be performing outdoors from 7-9 p.m.

Guests will be able to enjoy several different games and competitions such as the hula hoop and limbo competitions, the wine pull game where individuals will pull corks for a certain amount of money and then heads and tails.

“We are super excited,” Alonso said. “All of our community members who come out and help us will be so, so important to continue providing safety and security for abused and neglected children.”
