Demand for the wood for war purposes depleted the number of fine old trees, and this method is suggested for filling their places,

The Old historic Presbyterian church building that stood for so many years in the extreme east end of the town of New Bloomfield has passed into new hands and the few remaining members of that once strong religious body asked the Missouri Presbytery for a dissolution of the church. They were there to worship God in the true spirit, can but feel keenly the passing of this sanctuary built by a people who loved their Savior and walked in his footsteps. We can remember their faces: The Guthries, the Casons, the Humphreyses, the Caldwells, the Currys, the Murrays, the Mengs, the Youngs, the Christians and the Fergusons. The large Bell, that for years announces the hour for Sunday School, prayer meeting and preaching with it clear melodious tones and often with its solemn peals tolled for the death of a sister, a brother or a friend of the church, was given to the New Bloomfield Christian church.
